Teaching & Learning
Early Learning Years
At MCC, we are fortunate to offer a four-day Kindy program that gives children the best possible start to their school journey. With passionate and dedicated staff, our Kindy students engage in explicit teaching that builds strong foundational skills in a play-rich environment. Play experiences are thoughtfully embedded with intentional teaching, allowing children to explore, discover, and develop a sense of self while learning to connect with others.
From Pre-Primary to Year 2, our commitment to nurturing young learners continues. Our caring and skilled staff provide the extra attention and support that all growing children need. Clear routines and expectations create a structured yet engaging atmosphere, turning our classrooms into busy hives of learning and activity. Through explicit teaching, learning is broken down into achievable steps, ensuring students have ample opportunities to practice, grow, and thrive—both academically and socially—while still experiencing the joy of play.
Teaching & Learning
At MCC, our primary goal is to provide an environment that nurtures the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We are fortunate to work closely with our parents, ensuring that students arrive each day happy, healthy, and ready to learn. This strong partnership allows our dedicated staff to focus on delivering the curriculum in a way that maximises student growth and success. We set high expectations in the Primary years, striving for excellence and aiming for our students to achieve above national benchmarks consistently. Through high-quality professional development and a team of passionate educators, we implement evidence-based programs such as PLD Literacy, Talk for Writing (in the Early Learning Years), OCHRE, and PRIME Mathematics. Our goal is to adapt these programs to best support our students and deliver them consistently across classrooms, providing a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
While English, Mathematics, and Religious Education remain our primary focus in the coming years, we are incredibly fortunate to offer a diverse range of specialised subjects in the Primary years. Our dedicated specialist teachers create engaging lessons that blend explicit teaching, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on experiences to inspire curiosity and deepen understanding. Students can develop new skills and interests through specialist subjects, including Physical Education, Digital Technologies, Science, Performing Arts, and Italian (introduced in Year 3). These enriching experiences provide students with a well-rounded education, fostering a love of learning in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Information & Learning Technologies
In the Primary years, we strive to find the right balance between using technology effectively and knowing when it’s best not to rely on it. Our goal is to equip students with the skills and knowledge to become safe, responsible, and capable digital citizens who can make the most of technology while maintaining a healthy balance.
Through engaging Digital Technologies lessons, students explore coding in exciting, hands-on ways, fostering problem-solving skills and inquiry-based learning. From Year 4 to Year 6, our one-to-one iPad program empowers students to take ownership of their learning, helping them develop independence and responsibility. By integrating technology thoughtfully, we ensure our students are prepared for the future while still valuing traditional learning methods and personal interactions.
