Pastoral Care

At Mandurah Catholic College, Pastoral Care is based upon the Christian belief in the fundamental dignity and worth of each person. Care of the individual is at the centre of a Mandurah Catholic College education, with a network of people caring for each student and supporting their safety, wellbeing and positive education so they can develop socially, spiritually, emotionally, academically and physically

Primary School
Students begin their FLOW journey by being actively involved in weekly Flourish lessons based on the Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum (PEEC). PEEC is designed to support teachers as they provide ongoing pastoral care and spiritual development through their daily interactions and teachings with their students.  PEEC is implemented to support our classroom teachers with explicit curriculum designed to teach students the key concepts of wellbeing, so they can live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Secondary School
The Pastoral Care team support the delivery of our Secondary FLOW program, which includes a weekly FLOW lesson that delivers Flourish Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum (PEEC) learnings. Students also have an annual Flourish Day, filled with Positive Education activities to support student wellbeing and based around the Wellbeing Theme, for each year level.

The principles of Positive Education are integrated into our holistic Pastoral Care Program, implicitly and explicitly. Students are taught about being Positive, their Emotions/Engagements, Relationships, about Meaning & Purpose, Achievement & Accomplishment and their own mental, physical and emotional Health.

Positive Education aims to create flourishing students, staff and community. The principles of Positive Education are integrated into our holistic Pastoral Care Program, implicitly and explicitly. Skills of wellbeing and resilience are taught to enable members of the community to flourish, lead purposeful lives and contribute positively to society. Positive Education promotes the PERMA model, which was developed by Martin Seligman, it promotes six ingredients: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning & Purpose, Achievement & Accomplishment. The College has added ‘H’ for Health.
