MY MCC - Dylan Kissane - 1996 MCC Graduate
Q: Tell us about your most memorable time at MCC?
I enjoyed my Year 12 year at the College. I was involved in the Mock Trial Team (we finished second in the State that year) and I was the Head Prefect and was able to take on a leadership role in the College during my final year.
Q: Tell us about a staff member who made a huge difference to your life or to the College?
Charles Garratt was my History teacher in Year 12 and he inspired in me a curiosity about how the world worked, and how to understand the big picture of global politics. I would later go on to study International Relations at university, earn a PhD in the Theory of International Relations, and write a couple of books on the topic...and I can trace it all back to classroom discussions about Russian and Chinese history in Mr Garratt's class.
Q: How has MCC had an impact on your life or helped you to achieve your goals?
I was challenged to be curious about the world and how it worked, and went on to study exactly that at university. My studies would eventually take me to the other side of the world (France) where I have lived and taught a new generation of students history, politics, and international affairs for the last 15 years.
Q: If someone asked you about MCC, what would you tell them are the best things about the College and why?
It's a school that encourages students to be the best that they can be, that challenges students to achieve, and that retained a small family atmosphere despite being a growing community.
