What are you most looking forward to, in your role this year?
Getting to know the MCC community and building positive relationships with students, families and staff alike. The role of Dean of Students sits in the Pastoral Care sphere, which provides me with a great opportunity to assist our students and families with Pastoral Care initiatives. All the staff, led by Mrs Reynolds, Heads of House and the Heads of Year do a terrific job in the Pastoral Care realm and I'm keen to assist where I can.
Professional passion, or educational philosophy:
I believe strongly in Pastoral Care and the role it plays in helping our students develop to their full potential. This growth is influenced by a range of factors including school being a place for academic/vocational, social, emotional and spiritual development. Ultimately, part of this growth is providing young people with the knowledge to make positive decisions and adjustments while also understanding/embracing accountability and responsibility for the decisions they make.
What is a fun fact about you?
I LOVE SPORT! Play it, watch it, coach it... it's a big part of my life. Lucky for me, my wife enjoys the same passion and with a bit of luck, our kids will too. If they don't that's ok, we'll support them in their passions.
Key responsibilities of your Role:
The Dean of Students is primarily concerned with the Pastoral Care of students, along with discipline and standards, overseeing the Heads of Year. Key responsibilities include managing the Pastoral Care Period framework, overseeing student prayer and liturgy, managing the Protective Behaviours Curriculum and overseeing Student Wellbeing Programs.
