ACC Cross Country Championship
Last Thursday saw our top distance runners from the College, travel to Alderbury Reserve (Subiaco) to compete in the annual ACC Cross Country Championship. As usual all 88 schools are represented with up to 6 athletes in every race. With the potential for over 520 runners in each division, finishing anywhere in the top 100 is an exceptional effort.
To say that the College had some incredible performances was an understatement, with 8 of our students finishing within the top 20 of their respective year groups, and incredibly not one of the 39 athletes running outside 4.56 min/km.
Without doubt 2022 has been our most successful year at ACC Cross Country ever. Finishing 6th/88 in the Combined Girls Aggregate and our first ever Champion, Declan Somers Yr 10 Boys, since the competition's inception.
To put this in perspective Declan ran at an average of 3.09 min/km for 4 km, only 14 seconds slower per km than the previous 5km WORLD RECORD! Congratulations Declan on an incredible result.
Top 20 Results are as follows:
Yr 7 Boys - Phoenix Harry 7th
Yr 7 Boys - Mason Harry 12th
Yr 8 Boys - Alber Turner 3rd
Yr 9 Girls - Brienna O'Sullivan 16th
Yr 10 Girls - Pyper Warren 3rd
Yr 10 Girls - Elli McDonald 9th
Yr 10 Girls - Brienna O'Sullivan 16th
Yr 10 Boys - Declan Somers 1st (2022 ACC Cross Country Champion)
Congratulations to all students who took part!
